Strategic Partnerships and Fundraising
You think nothing of taking the Chinatown bus at a moment's notice when you get word that a munificent donor has materialized in N.Y.C.!
IIH has scaled rapidly since its inception and we are cultivating relationships with large foundations, pharmaceuticals in India and the U.S., individual donors, etc. You will create and manage these partnerships with a view to promoting our overall mission. You will be our spokesperson, so you must be passionate, articulate, comfortable with dialing every number on the switchboard till you speak with someone, and ready to pitch in your sleep!
Embedded Systems Engineer: Hardware
You loved playing with Lego and dream of mechatronics!
You are an embedded systems hacker who can rig up circuits on demand and turn around a board in a day! Your role will be to work with our own guru "Greddy" to deliver robust, field-ready uBox and uKey electronics that work seamlessly with the uBox mechanics. You should be very comfortable with getting microcontrollers to sense and actuate peripherals reliably.
Software Architect
Java was love at first sight, and you think the most user-friendly app is yet to be created!
You will work on a software application that will allow physicians and health workers in the field to dial in different treatment regimen into the uBox. They could be using a laptop, a PDA or a cell phone! Your application will also extract data from the box, upload it to a data repository, and automatically generate reports for the user. You should be very comfortable "engineering in the large" and have excellent software engineering discipline.
Device Trial Manager
You love the challenge of running a trial with 200 patients spread over 10 remote villages in Bihar, India!
You will be responsible for running the first trial of its kind ever whose success could possibly change national and global standards of care for rural treatment programs. You will build up a strong local team in Bihar to help you supervise 20 health care workers who will use the uBox and uPhone to track a cohort of 200 patients. Your team will diligently track every transaction in the field (with the help of uSoft, our information management system) and respond immediately to resolve failed transactions.
You should be prepared to spend at least a week every month in Bihar from May-July.
Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management
You love the challenge of setting up a supply and distribution chain that can churn out millions of uBoxes priced under $10!
You understand what it takes to go from 100s of boxes to 10s of thousands. You understand both the technical and managerial aspects of this work - understand both tolerances and the importance of supplier relationships. You are extremely quality focused, and will be responsible for assembly and test of uBoxes used in our trials in India.
